Whether you’re new to the outdoors or an experienced adventurer, sometimes it’s nice to get a little direction in planning your trip. The CU Boulder Outdoor Program can help you find your next adventure.

Here are four reasons to visit the Adventure Planning Center:

1. You’re looking for a new place to explore.

So you want to utilize your summer weekends but don’t know where to go? The Outdoor Program staff know outdoor recreation in Colorado and offer weekly trip suggestions. Or, if you want a personalized experience, they can work with you to create the trip you’re looking for. Rafting, climbing, backpacking, mountain biking—tell them what you want to do, and they’ll help you find a great spot to do it.

2. You need advice on a long-expected trip.

You’re a go-getter and totally on top of things. You bought a backcountry permit months ago, and are eagerly awaiting your adventure. You’ve been planning this trip with your friends, but now you’re uncertain about a few details. What to do?

The Outdoor Program has a large collection of guidebooks and resources to peruse at your leisure. You can also talk to trip instructors about any questions you may have, such as what to expect and what things to avoid. They can help you figure out weather conditions or the best times to summit that peak (get down before the afternoon thunderstorms roll in). The program also assists with route recommendations, meal planning and equipment suggestions.

3. You want to book the complete trip package.

That’s right, you can hire one of our trip instructors to guide your group through the backcountry! The program instructors have Wilderness First Responder certifications and specialized knowledge in rock climbing, backpacking and many more technical skills; they can lead you off-trail through the wilderness, provide first-aid support for your expedition or take you up a difficult route on your next 14er.

The Outdoor Program can also rent you equipment, print water-proof maps, prepare your meals or lend a hand with transportation and directions. Just let them know what you’re planning and how they can help! The cost of the complete trip package will be based on the services provided.

4. You like free swag from the Outdoor Program.

To receive your new favorite t-shirt, there are just three easy steps:

First, visit the Adventure Planning Center or choose one of the Adventures of the Week. Second, have an awesome time in the mountains. Third, share a photo on social media tagging @CUBoulderRec, #ActiveBuffs and #FindYourAdventure. When you return, the shirt is yours!

The Adventure Planning Center is located at the Outdoor Program climbing gym in the Recreation Center. Be sure to stop by and take advantage of all they have to offer!
