Last year, the University of Colorado Air Force ROTC Detachment 105 hosted a memorial 5K race in honor of one of the university's most distinguished fallen alumni, F-16 pilot Captain William H. "Pyro" Dubois Jr.

Dubois died in action on December 1, 2014, when his wingman’s F-16 developed mechanical issues. True to his character and leadership, he was escorting his wingman safely back to base when his own jet went down. He was 30 years old.

Now a second race honoring the fallen hero is set for April 23. The course takes runners across the beautiful CU Boulder campus.

All proceeds from the event go directly toward the Pyro's Wings Foundation Scholarship fund, which helps current Detachment 105 cadets gain valuable flight experience to boost their chances of earning their own Air Force pilot slot and carrying on DuBois' legacy.
