Dr. Don Misch, assistant vice chancellor for Health and Wellness, has named Gary Chadwick director of Recreation Services at the University of Colorado Boulder. He will officially transition from his current interim role on Aug. 1, 2014.

Chadwick has served in various roles at CU-Boulder in a career that has spanned over 30 years. After graduating from CU, Gary became the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Lafayette. In 1978 he began his CU professional career, serving at various times as Director of Recreation Services, Assistant Vice Chancellor for UCSU Major Auxiliaries and Director of Recreation Services, and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health and Wellness and Director of the Wardenburg Health Center.

“After coming out of retirement last year, Gary has served ably in the challenging role of interim Director of Recreation Services, working diligently and successfully to complete the Buff Up the Rec expansion/renovation project, assist Rec Center staff in the many transitions over the past year or so, and appropriately reorganize staff and fill vacancies,” said Misch, “Gary’s knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm for recreational services have been amply demonstrated over the course of many years.”

“I also want to express my great gratitude to the Search Committee members and Human Resources for their hard work in this effort,” said Misch. “Anyone who has served on a major search committee knows just how much work is entailed. Thank you as well to Recreation Center staff and other members of the CU-Boulder community who participated in the search and interview processes.”
