Over the past year we set out to complete a comprehensive review and assessment of human resource processes in response to a charge from Chancellor DiStefano to change “in fundamental ways that will retool our functions, structures, programs and outcomes for the better.” Therefore, we engaged the professional services consultancy, Towers Watson. They led an independent review of the campus’s human resource processes and service delivery model.

Towers Watson found that our campus has the opportunity to improve our human resources service delivery model through enhanced use of technology, simplified processes and increased partnership between human resources’ functional groups and the units they support.

To do this, Towers Watson concluded there is a need to supplement our campus’s professional human resources, providing campus units with best-in-class tools and the dedicated professionals necessary to support them.  They provided us with a set of recommendations to improve the recruitment, development, and retention of the best faculty and staff in the market.  Our HR steering committee will now consider those recommendations and will determine which of those should be implemented to best support our campus community’s current and future employees.

We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who took the time to complete surveys, participate in focus groups and share their insights into this important process. Their contributions have been instrumental in helping us to start to develop a HR roadmap for our future.

You are invited to read the Towers Watson report at this link. Additional updates and information about this process and future changes will continue to be shared with the campus community.

Sincerely,

Russ Moore, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Kelly Fox, Senior Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer
