Buff Essentials Week to be held Oct. 1-6

Published: Sept. 28, 2012

Buff Essentials Week, an annual event held to support freshmen in acclimating to college life, will be held Oct. 1-6.

First-year students in the College of Arts and Sciences are required to attend at least three events before registering for spring semester classes in November. Students can choose sessions related to academic advising, research opportunities, nutrition, career counseling, note taking, study abroad and others. All students, staff and faculty are invited to participate in the events.

“Buff Essentials Week is an easy opportunity to learn about campus resources, find opportunities to get involved and gain knowledge about how to make the most of your time on campus,” said Cori Shaff, career counselor with CU-Boulder’s Career Services office.

Students will have multiple opportunities to connect with faculty and staff in a variety of academic departments and programs, including pre-health, pre-law, English, Jewish studies, classics and international affairs. Additionally, offices like Study Abroad, Career Services, Office of Information Technology, Center for Multicultural Affairs, Counseling and Psychological Services and the GLBTQ Resource Center will offer workshops.

The week will include a variety of events, programs and workshops offered by campus departments including the Majors Fair, Study Abroad: Preparing Early, Interactive Theater and the Live Free Weekend Kick Off Lunch.
