Four finalists for dean of the School of Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder will begin campus visits on Jan. 26.

The finalists, their current positions and dates of their campus visits are:

•William B. Stanley, professor and chair, department of educational development, College of Education, University of Delaware. Jan. 26-27.

•Paul G. Theobald, associate dean of the College of Liberal Studies and director of the School of Education, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Jan. 29-30.

•Renee Tipton Clift, professor of curriculum and instruction and executive director of the Council on Teacher Education, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Feb. 12-13.

•Walter G. Secada, professor, department of curriculum and instruction, University of Wisconsin-Madison and director, Region VI Comprehensive Assistance Center, Wisconsin Center for Education Research. His visit is being scheduled.

The search committee, chaired by Engineering Dean Ross Corotis, will make its final recommendations on the position following the campus visits. The recommendation goes to Phil DiStefano, vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Five finalists for the position were named last April but the search was later reopened.

Interim Dean Lorrie Shepard has led the School of Education since DiStefano left the post in September 1996. He had been dean since 1986.
