Brighton will host an exhibit of insect photographs as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder.
The exhibit, Small Wonders: Insect Photos by Fran Hall, will be shown from May 24 through Sept. 1 in the Adams County Museum, the local sponsor, at 9601 Henderson Road.
Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donations are requested.
Photographer Fran Hall, now in his eighties, will give a free public talk about his work on Sunday, June 8, at 4 p.m. in the Adams County Museum.
The color and black-and-white close-ups reveal the fascinating world of insects. A photographer since the 1930s, Halls footage has been featured in a number of films distributed by Disney Studios. He was one of the first nature photographers to train his lens on animals other than birds, and his work helped establish the now-popular genre of nature films.
More than 300,000 people throughout Colorado have enjoyed CU This Summer offerings over the nine years of the popular community outreach program of art and museum exhibits and music and dance performances.
CU This Summer cultural events are sponsored by each community for the enrichment of residents and summer visitors. The host communities this year are Burlington, Cortez, Durango, Estes Park, Grand Junction, La Junta, Lamar, Montrose and Pueblo, as well as Brighton.
CU This Summer sponsorship is shared by the host communities and the Boulder Campus Outreach Council, the CU Office of Business and Community Relations, the department of theater and dance, CU Art Galleries, the University of Colorado Museum and College of Music with support from the Office of Public Relations.
