The University of Colorado at Boulder’s Science Discovery program will host a night of family entertainment featuring a CU Wizard Show and a Square Dance Extravaganza from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 19 at the First Congregational Church of Boulder.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Science Discovery, an outreach program of CU-Boulder that offers science presentations to young people through field trips, workshops, wilderness camps and other programs.

The Wizard Show by CU-Boulder chemistry professor David Nesbitt will “expose the simple beauty of chemistry,” he said, including “a few contained explosions illustrating the ways in which molecules undergo changes,” and discussions of the chemistry of fireworks and of sound, light and color.

The square dance will feature live music from the local band “Pangea” and dinner will be available from “Food for Thought,” a Boulder catering company.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children. For more information or to purchase advance tickets contact Science Discovery at 492-7188. Free Science Discovery T-shirts will be available to purchasers of the first 50 advance tickets.
