CU’s three ‘Rake’s’ mark world-first shared staging of art and music

 

The University of Colorado Boulder is hosting a world premiere shared staging of all three versions of William Hogarth’s “Rake’s Progress” in September and October.

Exhibitions of the original Hogarth artwork and prints by David Hockney, as well as the staging of Stravinsky’s opera, will provide a multidisciplinary interpretation of this seminal work in Hogarth’s career.

CU-Boulder planetarium upgrading to giant-screen theater

If you’re a planetarium junkie in the Boulder area, your experience is about to get a major upgrade.

The astrophysical and planetary sciences department, home to Fiske Planetarium, announced today the launch of a complete upgrade to the projection and other presentation systems that power the planetarium’s big-screen experience. The remodel will turn the dome of the planetarium into an all-encompassing video theater.

Robotic ‘Swarm Wall’ at CU-Boulder created through intersection of art and technology

 

A monthlong summer exhibit at the University of Colorado Boulder Art Museum will feature a dynamic new media composition based on innovative robotics technology.

Called “Swarm Wall,” the large-scale interactive piece displays changing fields of color, light and sound that are driven by a distributed form of artificial intelligence.

A research team involving Yale University and the University of Colorado Boulder has developed a first public demonstration version of its “Map of Life,” an ambitious Web-based endeavor designed to show the distribution of all living plants and animals on the planet.
