CU-Boulder senior, 16, will graduate with honors before heading to Harvard

It’s been a busy four years for Natasha Goss, who will graduate summa cum laude May 10 with a major in chemistry and a minor in mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder.

She’s been deeply involved in campus life, most notably through the CU Environmental Center, participated in two research projects, submitted papers for publication and even spent three weeks abroad in Australia.

Three University of Colorado professors, including two at CU-Boulder, have been chosen as 2013 President’s Teaching Scholars, educators who have skillfully integrated teaching and research at a high level throughout their careers at CU.

CU business students to get head start at ‘CoLab’ orientation Aug. 25

The Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder is trying out a whole new way of introducing its freshmen to college. First-year Leeds students will plunge into an intensive full-day program of action learning called “CoLab: Essentials of Collaboration and Innovation” on Aug. 25.  

CoLab is designed to orient the Class of 2016 to what it takes to be a successful business school student, as well as what it means to be a successful business leader.

Tiny CU-Boulder satellite may launch as early as Aug. 14

A tiny satellite designed, built and tested by University of Colorado Boulder students to study solar flares may launch as early as Aug. 14 from Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc, Calif.

CU-Boulder commences search for visiting scholar in conservative thought and policy

 

The University of Colorado Boulder today announced the start of a national search for the inaugural Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy.

An advisory committee of five faculty members and five community members is soliciting letters of interest and curriculum vitae for the position, which will be housed in CU-Boulder’s College of Arts and Sciences. The committee seeks a “highly visible” scholar who is “deeply engaged in either the analytical scholarship or practice of conservative thinking and policymaking, or both.”

Two CU students win prestigious national Goldwater scholarships

 

University of Colorado Boulder twin sophomores Srinidhi Radhakrishnan and Saikripa Radhakrishnan -- both chemical and biological engineering majors -- have been awarded prestigious Goldwater Scholarships.

The scholarships are worth up to $7,500 for educational expenses each year and are given to students who intend to pursue careers in the fields of math, science or engineering.

First graduates of Colorado Mesa University- CU-Boulder partnership program set to graduate

Nine students who make up the first graduating class of the Mechanical Engineering Partnership Program with Colorado Mesa University will receive degrees from the University of Colorado Boulder this week.

The students have attended classes full time at CMU in Grand Junction, with CMU faculty teaching the lower-division courses and CU-Boulder faculty teaching the upper-division courses.

CU-Boulder names Steven Leigh new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

University of Colorado Boulder Provost Russell L. Moore today named Steven Leigh as dean of CU-Boulder’s College of Arts and Sciences. Leigh currently serves as an associate dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The appointment is effective July 1.

Committee proposes new CU College of Media, Design and the Arts and companion institute

University of Colorado Boulder Provost Russell L. Moore today formally accepted a report by the Information, Communication, Journalism, Media and Technology (ICJMT) Steering Committee that proposes the creation of a new College of Media, Design and the Arts at CU-Boulder and a companion interdisciplinary institute.

Web-based science program designed by CU and UCAR now in six school districts

A web-based science instruction program designed by researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder and the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research that provides teachers with cutting-edge digital content is being tested in six school districts, thanks to a new $600,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.
