New CU-Boulder leadership minor to launch in spring 2014

Former University of Colorado President Alexander E. “Sandy” Bracken knows a few things about the role that effective leadership plays in career success and life in general.

As the Newton Leadership Chair at CU-Boulder, Bracken has the task – and desire – to bring more leadership training and development opportunities to students across all academic disciplines. One of the major components of this goal is the creation of the Newton Leadership Studies Minor, which will launch in the spring 2014 semester along with a new class (LEAD 1000) titled “Becoming a Leader.”

CU Law School students to teach state high school students about Constitution

More than 50 students and dozens of alumni of the University of Colorado Boulder Law School will teach a lesson on the First Amendment in more than 50 high school classrooms throughout Colorado Sept. 11–20 in recognition of Constitution Day.

Constitution Day is a national event that annually commemorates the Sept. 17, 1787, signing of the United States Constitution.

CU-Boulder ranked highest in state by U.S. News & World Report

DENVER — The nationally recognized excellence of the University of Colorado’s campuses and undergraduate programs is again highlighted in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges, the 2014 edition of which was released today.

CU-Boulder senior, 16, will graduate with honors before heading to Harvard

It’s been a busy four years for Natasha Goss, who will graduate summa cum laude May 10 with a major in chemistry and a minor in mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder.

She’s been deeply involved in campus life, most notably through the CU Environmental Center, participated in two research projects, submitted papers for publication and even spent three weeks abroad in Australia.

CU business students to get head start at ‘CoLab’ orientation Aug. 25

The Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder is trying out a whole new way of introducing its freshmen to college. First-year Leeds students will plunge into an intensive full-day program of action learning called “CoLab: Essentials of Collaboration and Innovation” on Aug. 25.  

CoLab is designed to orient the Class of 2016 to what it takes to be a successful business school student, as well as what it means to be a successful business leader.

CU-Boulder commences search for visiting scholar in conservative thought and policy

The University of Colorado Boulder today announced the start of a national search for the inaugural Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy.

An advisory committee of five faculty members and five community members is soliciting letters of interest and curriculum vitae for the position, which will be housed in CU-Boulder’s College of Arts and Sciences. The committee seeks a “highly visible” scholar who is “deeply engaged in either the analytical scholarship or practice of conservative thinking and policymaking, or both.”

Two CU students win prestigious national Goldwater scholarships

University of Colorado Boulder twin sophomores Srinidhi Radhakrishnan and Saikripa Radhakrishnan -- both chemical and biological engineering majors -- have been awarded prestigious Goldwater Scholarships.

The scholarships are worth up to $7,500 for educational expenses each year and are given to students who intend to pursue careers in the fields of math, science or engineering.
