Multi-discipline research makes a big impact

Liz Bradley is a great professor because she loved being a student. The computer science professor graduated from MIT with three degrees, a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D., in electrical engineering and computer science. And, while earning these degrees would be more than enough to earn bragging rights, Bradley earned her two graduate degrees while training as an Olympic rower. She took fifth place in the 1988 Olympic Games.

Performance artist garners national honor

A University of Colorado Boulder dancer and performance artist has won a $50,000 USA Fellowship Grant, an award designed to put unrestricted grants “directly into the hands of America’s finest artists.”

Michelle Ellsworth, an assistant professor of theatre and dance at CU, says she’s honored, humbled and surprised by the award. Judging by the reviews she’s gotten in recent years, others were not taken off guard.

CU's Williams Village North earns platinum rating in LEED certification

Williams Village North, the University of Colorado Boulder's newest residence hall, has received a LEED platinum rating from the United States Green Building Council. The 500-bed residence hall is the first of its size in the nation to rank platinum -- the highest possible designation.

Journalism students create award-winning video series

A group of current and recently graduated CU-Boulder journalism students won a Heartland Emmy award in July for a video they created while working on the CU Science Update video series.

Alumni Jenna Browder, Eric Duggan, Sabina Hadzic, Sara Handing, Amanda Yourick and senior in broadcast production and film studies Greg O’Brien produced the winning episode, called “Pluto—The Un-Planet,” under the direction of journalism instructor Paul Daughtery last fall. The work was part of an advanced-level video editing course.

Forever Buffs program connects CU-Boulder alumni

When senior Christie Sounart graduates this spring with a journalism degree, she’s going to have a competitive edge over the thousands of other college graduates looking for jobs across the nation.

She has a strong Buff network of more than 240,000 alumni to tap into for professional networking, job or internship opportunities and relocation tips. And to help students like Sounart transition from college to careers, the CU-Boulder Alumni Association is building unprecedented new bridges between students and alumni, thanks to the launch of its new Forever Buffs program.
