Guggenheim family endows chair with $2.25 million gift to Leeds School

A better understanding of the core drivers that help great leaders innovate — and avoid failure — is key to advancing global enterprise. The Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder is now better equipped to advance this understanding, thanks to a new $2.25 million gift from the Thomas Stix Guggenheim family to establish an endowed faculty chair aimed at educating new generations of entrepreneurs on the core drivers of successful business design and innovation.

Fundraising leaders fund $2 million jazz studies endowment

Jeannie and Jack Thompson have made an unprecedented commitment to the Jazz Studies program at the University of Colorado Boulder -- building $1.6 million in combined gifts to trigger a new $2 million program endowment.

To honor and recognize this transformational gift, the program will be renamed the Thompson Jazz Studies Program, as announced at yesterday’s annual Spring Swing big band concert. It is CU-Boulder’s first named program.

$2 million investment in CU-Boulder’s Leeds School of Business launches two new undergraduate business programs

 

The Anschutz Foundation has committed $2 million to launch two new initiatives designed to make the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder a more powerful economic contributor to Colorado and beyond.

The contribution from The Anschutz Foundation will be divided evenly between two undergraduate programs.

CU-Boulder alumna gives $2 million to launch endowed chair in theater

 

When a young caller for the University of Colorado Boulder’s annual giving program asked Roe Green a decade ago if she would consider increasing her $100 annual gift to $150, he was the first to get the hint that Green might become a key part of the theater program from which she’d graduated in 1970.

“I told the caller, ‘Oh, I think I’d like to give more,’ ” recalled Green.

In a day and age when the arts are often overlooked by those seeking more “career-oriented” pursuits, Green—who is on numerous boards including the College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council and the honorary board of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival—stands up for the importance of theater. “Theater helps in all walks of life,” Green says. “It gives you an opportunity to speak in front of people. What makes us human are the arts.”

NSF awards CU-Boulder $5.9 million grant for alpine ecosystem research

To honor a father who stoked their love of history and respect for civil rights, Boulder sisters and University of Colorado Boulder alumnae Midge Korczak and Leslie Singer Lomas have donated $2 million to endow the Louis P. Singer Endowed Chair in Jewish History at CU-Boulder.
