University of Colorado at Boulder faculty member Douglas Sicker has been appointed chief technologist of the Federal Communications Commission, the federal agency announced today. He will work in the FCC's Office of Strategic Planning and Policy Analysis and will advise the agency on technological issues.

Jeff Mitton, professor and chair of CU-Boulder's ecology and evolutionary biology department, is available to talk about the repercussions of oil spills. Mitton was on sabbatical in 1979-1980 at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Mass., where he studied a 1969 oil spill that seeped into the Sippewissett Marsh.

Astronaut Jim Voss Joins CU-Boulder Aerospace Faculty

University of Colorado alumnus-astronaut Jim Voss has become the second astronaut to join CU-Boulder's aerospace engineering sciences department following his NASA career, which for Voss included five spaceflights, 202 days in space and four spacewalks.
