I speak frequently about how CU-Boulder discovery and innovation leads to economic development, company creation and advancements for society. Here’s a bit of proof.  A new study from the Brookings Institution released a week ago finds Boulder among the top five patent-producing metropolitan areas in the nation.

Several hundred people are expected to gather on the University of Colorado Boulder campus July 12-13 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of JILA, a joint institute of CU-Boulder and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) known around the world for its discoveries in atomic, molecular and optical physics. In addition, the president-elect of the American Physical Society will be on hand to officially announce JILA’s designation as an historic physics site.

CU-Boulder Engineering Days to feature egg drop on April 19

Engineering students at the University of Colorado Boulder will host the annual College Egg Drop on April 19 as part of their annual celebration of Engineering Days.

The egg drop, which starts at 1 p.m. on the west side of the Engineering Center, challenges students to create a contraption that will protect a raw egg when dropped from the eighth floor of the Engineering Center’s office tower.
