Adapted and Directed by: Cecilia Pang
Music & Lyrics: Billy Wolfe

University Theatre, Mainstage

Matinee Oct. 12 at 2:00pm

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Fed up with the war, the Athenian women go on a sex strike to force their husbands to vote for peace. Go Lysistrata! is a sexy and sassy remake of Aristophanes’ comedy where its bawdy ribaldry remains as boisterous and rollicking as ever.

Scandalous lyrics with a hip-hop tone tell the tale of war:

“…. And now they’re wasting all our fine young men,
Our brothers and our boyfriends and our husbands,
Killing them, maiming them, messing with their heads
and I’m telling you it’s got to end, it’s got to end, it’s got to end
I’m telling you it’s got to end, god damn it, it’s got to end.
NOW!!!

Before long, Lysistrata’s scheme proves effective and peace is concluded.

Adapted and directed by Cecilia J. Pang and presented by the students at the University of Colorado at Boulder, this production features guest composer Billy Wolfe.

There will be a talk-back with the audience on Oct. 3rd.
