The University of Colorado, Department of Theatre & Dance is proud to present "I have nothing to say and I am saying it" (~ John Cage), a Master of Fine Arts dance concert featuring the work of MFA candidates Joy French, Josselyn Levinson and Cortney McGuire.  French, Levinson and McGuire bring their choreographic voices together to explore their cultural expectations and interactions defined by place and space.  Through shifting stage-designs, dance improvisation and video projection, the choreographers take a closer look at how both history and memory impact present actions, daily rituals and personal identity.

French explores the history and lineage of women surrounded by a Western landscape.  In a world filled with luggage, eggs, and video projection, French and her seven dancers navigate the gap between childhood and motherhood, searching for the common threads that bind the female experience.

Incorporating thera-bands, exercise balls, water bottles, costume changes and mirrors, Levinson gives the audience an insider's perspective on the training, organization and presentation of dancing bodies. Working with the performance of process, Levinson and her six dancers explore what comprises a dance performance from conception to execution.

McGuire leads the audience down the winding road of live improvisation.  With live musicians, brownies and lawn decor, McGuire and her dancers aim to 'just be' as they meander along the fine line between realness and fakeness.

This eclectic evening of dance work spans a diverse landscape of vulnerable improvisation and rich choreography leaving the audience to question, experience and enjoy!
