Professor, Director of CU Contemporary Dance Works, Chair of the Roser Visiting Artist Committee, GPTI Coordinator. CU faculty member since 1988. Director of Dance 1989-2000. Teaches Graduate Choreography, Beginning and Intermediate Composrtion, Injury Prevention,The Alexander Technique, and Graduate Dance Administration.
Professor Diachenko's 40 year career as a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher includes 20 years teaching in New York, ten years at New York University and eight years at the Erick Hawkins studio. During that time she also toured natioanlly and internationally with the Erick Hawkins Company and conducted many residencies with her own dance company.
She has taught at numerous colleges and universities, including James Madison, Princeton, Vassar, North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Texas at Austin, College of William and Mary, Case Western, and Virginia Commonwealth. She has taught at the American Dance Festival, The Colorado Dance Festival, and the Boulder Jazz Festival. Recent international teaching and performing include Dance Dept. at Unicamp University in San Palo Brazil (2008) and The National Dance Company of Costa Rica in San Juan (2008), residencies and workshops at the Duncan Centre and the CESTA Collaborative/Interdisciplinary Festival in the Czech Republic, Dansenhus in Denmark and the cultural exchange program with the Centro Cultural Costarricense Norteamericano in Costa Rica.
Highlights of Professor Diachenko’s professional career include:
Mundanza International Dance Festival Costa Rica 2008. Collaborative/interdisiplinary projects with installation artist/sculptor Antonette Rosato 1990-2006.
Soloist in the Erick Hawkins Dance Company and Mr. Hawkins’ partner in numerous works in the 1970s.
Co-director and later director of the Greenhouse Dance Ensemble in New York City for 12 years.
Artistic Director and choreographer of Nada Diachenko and Dancers and Nada Diachenko-Solo Dance.
Co-director of the Berlin Ensemble with Ken Rinker and Sergio Cervetti in West Berlin, Germany.
Dancer with Ethel Butler in Washington, D.C.
Member of the Regional Ballet Co. in Washington, D.C.
Professor Diachenko continues to perform and choreograph as well as conduct worshops and master classes in The Alexander Technique, Injury prevention and the Hawkins Technique.
