Assistant Professor. CU faculty member since 2007. Teaches all levels of technique, and dance history and philosophy courses.
Erika Randall is a freelance artist, teacher and choreographer who has recently worked with Sara Hook, David Parker and the Bang Group, Teena Custer, Michelle Ellsworth, Gabriel Masson, Rebecca-Nettl-Fiol, Esteban Donoso, the Mark Morris Dance Group and Buglisi/Foreman Dance. She is also a founding member of the Seattle born company Cava-Parker Dance whose new home is in Puebla, Mexico.
Erika formed the Columbus Movement (cm2), an organization supporting the development and visibility of contemporary dance artists in Columbus, Ohio, which was named one of Dance Magazine’s “Top 25 to Watch” in 2007. Working with collaborative partner Anna Sapozhnikov on their duet company, Sweetie Pie Productions, Erika has found her perfect match for presenting theatrical and physical dance works. Their work has been shown in multiple venues throughout Illinois and was selected for The Goose Route Dance Festival in Sheperdstown, WV in July 2008. Erika taught ballet for the Boulder Jazz Festival in Summer 2008, as well.
Erika’s solo and group choreography has been performed nationally in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington, and internationally in Ecuador. Her multi- media work has been shown at the Digital Cabaret Technology Conference in Urbana, Illinois and at the Underground and the Leo Kreielsheimer Theatres in Seattle.
Before relocating to Colorado, Erika was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois for 3 years and a Guest lecturer at OSU. Ms. Randall was part of the
Summer faculty at the Interlochen Arts Camp for 8 years and has been a frequent guest artist at the Interlochen Arts Academy. Erika has offered master classes at University of Illinois, the National High School Dance Festival in Miami, at ACDFA at the University of Iowa , Iowa State, and Salt Lake City, Utah and for Dance Kaleidoscope in Indianapolis. Her lecture-demonstrations include: elementary education in Sarasota, Florida; a panel discussion on feminism in Puebla, Mexico; choreography for Wexner Center Family Day in Columbus, Ohio; and feminist theory in relation to Martha Graham at
the University of Washington.
Erika is currently working on the production of the feature length film, Leading Ladies, which she co-wrote with screenwriting partner, Jennifer Bechtel. |
