Data Protection - Temporary When you are using a modem, Data Protection -- Temporary blocks the interrupting effect of features such as Call Waiting and Priority Calling on data transmission. This feature can only be used on calls you originate and is automatically deactivated when the call ends. Therefore, Data Protection - Temporary must be reactivated with each modem use. To activate Data Protection - Temporary Lift handset from cradle; listen for dial tone. Dial #9; listen for dial tone. If you get an error code, check the code and try again. Dial the appropriate telephone number. If you get a busy tone, try again. When using an automatic dialing modem, follow steps one and two before disconnecting your telephone and connecting your modem.
