Visiting International Students - Summer 2012
The University of Colorado Boulder welcomes visiting students from around the world. Experience American culture, make friends, enjoy Boulder and take advantage of a great university. We have advisors standing by to help you select courses. With over 500 courses offered this summer, you will find the course that will enrich your creative, professional, cultural, or academic interests.

International students who are requesting a form I-20 (for an F-1 visa) are required to enroll full time (6 credits). Students are not allowed to drop below 6 credit hours to maintain their visa status. We want you to have a great Summer Session experience to the University of Colorado Boulder.

Before You Apply
- Research and select the courses you would like to take from the Online Schedule of Courses (see above).
- If you have advising questions, email ceadvisor@colorado.edu
- Read the sections on our website on Tuition and Fees and Refunds, Drop and Add Deadlines, and Academic Information.
- Read the Visa information below.
- Apply early to assure course selection and the ability to issue an I-20 for you.
- You will not be able to enter the U.S. if the start date on your I-20 does not match your Summer Session start date. Contact Summer Sessions before making any changes to your schedule.
Apply
In order to be eligible for Summer Session you must complete:
- the International Student Application for summer nondegree status
- the Request an I-20 form
- the Student Supplement form
and submit them with the following items:
- A transcript showing graduation from high school
- A copy of your passport page with biographical data information
- TOEFL Report
- A bank letter indicating adequate funds (see Financial information on website)
- A list of the classes that you want to take

After submitting this information, we will review your application. If accepted, you will:
- Receive your Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 or DS-2019) document.
- Pay your SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) Fee on the SEVIS fee processing website www.fmjfee.com/i901fee. More information is available on the Office of International Education website.
- Make an appointment with a U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your area (http://www.usembassy.gov/) to apply for a F-1 visa stamp.
- The University of Colorado Boulder offers on-campus housing in the residence halls. Check out the Housing information.
- Check your most up-to-date class schedule at MyCUInfo.
- Check the schedule of Mandatory Meeting with the Office of International Education.
After You Arrive
- Check into housing and obtain the complete address of your local residence.
- Check in with the Office of International Education.
- Attend your first classes.
- Check in with the Summer Session.
- Buy textbooks.
- If you want a student identification card, go to the Buff OneCard office in the Center for Community to obtain your photo ID.
Before You Leave
- Stop by Summer Session to verify your address, pay any outstanding balance, and verify how to arrange for a transcript.
To apply for a Form I-20
- Complete the Application
- Provide a copy of your passport biographic page (showing date of birth etc)
- Provide a copy of your high school transcript showing graduation
- Provide proof of TOEFL score
- Complete the financial affidavit and provide a bank letter indicating adequate funds
- Pay your SEVIS fee
- Fax to 303-492-3962 or scan and e-mail the documents to ssdean@colorado.edu
