Plan year: August 18, 2008–August 17, 2009Overview of Student Health Plans
Is it mandatory to have health insurance? Is it mandatory to have health insurance? Our goal at CU-Boulder is to provide you with the best educational experience possible. Because your health and wellness can directly affect the quality of this experience, CU-Boulder has adopted a mandatory policy for student health insurance—requiring all students to be covered by a health insurance plan. To assist you with health insurance coverage, the university offers the Student Gold Health Insurance Plan. You may also choose to be covered by other health insurance provided through your employer, parent, guardian, spouse or domestic partner. Please keep in mind that all CU-Boulder students enrolled for 1 or more credit hours will be automatically enrolled and billed $860 per semester for the Student Gold Health Insurance Plan—unless you select the Wardenburg Campus Care Plan (which is not an insurance plan) or waive coverage by September 3, 2008, for the fall semester and January 21, 2009, for spring 2009. (New summer students are not automatically enrolled.) Students in the ACCESS, Continuing Education, Time Out, Semester at Sea, Evening MBA, and Study Abroad programs are not automatically enrolled. (See Exceptions to Automatic Enrollment) Spouses/domestic partners and dependents also are not automatically enrolled. (See Exceptions to Automatic Enrollment) What is the health insurance plan? Student Gold Health Insurance Plan. This plan provides medical, sports medicine, women's health, pharmacy and psychological health and psychiatry coverage on campus at Wardenburg Health Center and also coverage for services off campus. All students enrolled for one or more credit hours are automatically enrolled and billed $860 per semester for the Student Gold Health Insurance Plan unless you select the Wardenburg Campus Care Plan or waive coverage. This plan is also available for your spouse/domestic partner and dependents. (Go to Student Gold Health Insurance Plan for plan information.) What is the Wardenburg Campus Care Plan? Wardenburg Campus Care Plan. This plan is an excellent choice if you want the basic medical care and women's health care, labs and X-rays on campus provided by Wardenburg Health Center and already have insurance coverage for services outside of Wardenburg. The premium is only $150 per semester, which may be less than the deductible of your current insurance plan. There are no deductibles with this plan. This plan is also available for your spouse/domestic partner. (Because it is not an insurance plan, proof of health insurance is required in order make this selection. Go to Wardenburg Campus Care Plan for information.) Who is responsible for my health care costs? You are responsible for your health care costs; the university is not responsible for your health care costs. If you participate in either the Student Gold Health Insurance Plan or the Wardenburg Campus Care Plan, services will be provided as set forth within the plan you select. |
