VCH and Alternative Breaks Staff - Job Opportunities

Looking for a part-time job where you can make a difference and gain valuable job experience and leadership skills? CU's Volunteer Clearing House is now accepting applications for paid staff positions and board members! Start dates vary from March through late August. We are looking for students who enjoy working with their peers, care deply about making the world a better place, and want to take the lead on fun and rewarding projects, events and tasks.

Alternative Breaks is also hiring a staff coordinator to plan future AB trips.

Job Title: Alternative Breaks Coordinator

Job Description: Promote volunteerism by coordinating service trips over university breaks; includes pre-during-post trip logisitics, issue focus and location. Works with AB board members, VCH director and staff to ensure successful promotion and retention of trips. Attends VCH events and helps with promotion of such events, volunteer fairs events, and other service day projects. Promotes partnerships with student groups, cost centers, on-campus services and looks for innovative ways to work and partner with local agencies for program proliferation. Assists individual students and student groups in finding volunteer opportunities and facilitate service-day projects. Support VCH staff with other related programs and services.

Expectations
15+ hours per week
attend weekly staff meetings; 1:00pm, Wednesdays
attend a Break Away Alternative Breaks Citizenship school during summer (paid)
attend VCH staff retreat
organizes and/or facilitates AB board retreat
delegates tasks to board members and assists with tasks
attend all VCH sponsored events
attend necessary meetings including Finance Board, VCH Advisory Board, Leg Council

Essential Tasks and Duties:

Program Coordination
Works out all logistics for each trip (food, housing, traveling)
Work with AB board members for trip location, issue focus and educational materials
Work with SOFO to pay for lodging, traveling expenses
Work with Transportation Center for ground travel
Budgeting for trips; set site leader and participant fees
Communicate regularly with site leaders, participants
Check AB email account daily
Keeps record of participants
Coordinates design and purchasing of promotional items (flyers, tshirts, etc.)

General Office Duties
Respond to phone messages, take messages
Purchases supplies for trips (binders, copies)
Updates website by working with VCH Tech
Submits emails to weekly VCH updates if applicable
Reviews job duties and keeps updated
