Jen began working with the VRC in 2008 after she spent the start of her career as an educator, advocate and counselor in the inner city public schools in San Francisco and NYC. She received her MA in Education and her MA in Counseling Psychology from USF and her BA in Sociology from USD.
Jen made travel a priority in her earlier years and has traveled all over this map both nationally and internationally exploring and relishing in our differences and similarities. Jen works to bridge the gaps that separate us while still honoring the beauty that makes us different.
She believes strongly that the process of being in service of others is a deep knowing of oneself , an ability to be at home in one's one body, and an understanding of ourselves as part of a larger world. In order to serve a community productively and meet its authentic needs, we must first meet and understand ourselves. From there we have the space to bring in the knowledge of anothers needs from a global viewpoint. Jen strives to empower student leadership, life long learning, and a deep inquiry into the diverse world that exists around us.
