Kayak Club

The Club meets weekly during the school year from 7:00-10:00pm on Wednesdays in Clare Small Pool
(through the tunnel in the north wall of the competition pool).

All CU rec center members can join, the cost is $60 for the year (August - August), or $40 for a semester. and includes all gear, roll sessions, plus a small amount of travel expenditures. We are made up of paddlers of all skill levels, and all instruction is given by the generosity of our current members, and includes learning the all important roll and many other cool play boating moves.

Trips

Spring Break

We Usually do a week long roadtrip over spring break to the Northwest or Southeast. Its a ton of fun, and geared toward intermedeites (easiest whitewater is class III).

Summer

This one has been the week right after spring finals, and is a roadtrip around Colorado, difficulty varies based on the group. It usually works out endnig at the golden games!

Competitions

We usually have members compete in CSM Icebreaker, Golden Games, CKS Paddlefest, GoPro Mountain Games, and FiBARK.

Our trips vary from afternoon hucks down your favorite local creek to multi-day, raft supported expeditions. Unfortunantly the Colorado boating season dosen't really line up with the school year, as the best boating is in May and June during peak run off. But during runoff the club competes in many of the local whitewater festivals such as GoPro Mountain Games and Fibark, as well as day trips most weekends. Lastly during the year we go on a week long out of state spring break trip and a week long trip immediatly after spring semester finals. photo by Paul Kubala
