The purpose of Imatong of Boulder is to:
- raise awareness campus- and community-wide of current violations of human rights that cause refugee situations, particularly in Sudan
- provide support for refugee students at the University of Colorado at Boulder
- facilitate communication and cohesion between student and community groups with similar goals in an effort to create a united front and spark further progress
- serve as a liaison between the local and campus communities and current, as well as prospective, refugee students
- raise funds to allow for the pursuit of group goals
- develop cross-cultural understanding to promote the advancement of CU-Boulder's multicultural community
- invoke thought for a non-violent and mutually respectful future of the human race
