Who Are We?
We are the Timmy Foundation CU Boulder Chapter. We are a student run group that organizes a medical mission trip to Quito, Ecuador. Upon arrival in Quito, we work with "The Fundacion Tierra Nueva" for a little over a week providing medical treatment and presenting health issues to the people of Quito. Primarily, we are composed of pre-medical students and a set of physicians and health profesionals.
We currently have our team of students set, but we are still in need of medical supply donations. For more information, please contact Stacy Romero , President of the CU Timmy Foundation Club.

FUNDACION TIERRA NUEVA, QUITO, ECUADOR: This dynamic organization is working to improve the quality of both health and education in the vast, poor areas of South Quito. They currently operate a bustling clinic offering emergency and maternity services, physical therapy, laboratory analyses, simple surgeries, etc. In order to more fully meet the medical needs of this impoverished population, Tierra Nueva is currently constructing a 100-bed hospital.
The educational programs of Tierra Nueva include a low-cost day care center and a center for special education. At this center, which Dr. Chuck considers to be one of the best of its kind in the world, mentally handicapped children of poor families have access to the latest therapies (including physical-,hippo-, hydro-, and music therapy) and quality, loving educational instruction, all at a cost of only $10/month to the family! The fees paid by the families do not come close to covering the operating expenses of this center. Thus, they are looking for sponsors to assist in covering the remaining $50/month/child.
In addition to health and education, Tierra Nueva operates a home-building ministry similar to that of Habitat for Humanity. We currently are sending 7 volunteer groups a year to Ecuador and for only $7000.00, the foundation can build a comfortable, single-family residence for families in difficult situations.
The Timmy Foundation currently sends 3 volunteer groups to Tierra Nueva each year. We are preparing a sea container of computers, medical supplies, and quality medical equipment. Thanks to the support of the TriMedx Corporation, biotech engineers have dramatically helped Tierra Nueva's Instituto Medico keep up to date on medical technology. Thanks to a partnership with the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), we are researching the creation of a Spasticity Management Program in Quito! Thanks to donors and past trip volunteers, we raised $28,000 for Tierra Nueva in the winter of '03/04.
