| Change of Plans |
Sep. 28th |
Change of plans. Since the Graduate Symposium (on the 23rd, anyone else attending?) is focusing on Stem Cell Biology, I thought it would be pertinent to do the same. Jason will be presenting two papers that he described as "...a couple medium-length papers. if you want to learn about the consensus understanding of stem cell plasticity and utilization, these 2 papers are great. the studies are done by the same group and with the same model so there is an easy transition from one to the next. and eventhough there is a disease component to these papers, only minimal introductory background will be necessary."
The articles are available for download under the "Literature to be discussed" section to the right => |

Now that things are starting to come along, it's time to think about how to make the BSJC's existence know to interested parties. I am much more concerned with maintaining a small number of high caliber participants than establishing a large member base. As such, word-of-mouth is probably going to be the most effective advertising technique at present, so tell your friends about the Oct. 3rd meeting.
Additionally, I'm going to make an announcement in my Evolution and Creationism class next week (all MCDB seniors) and tell my academic advisor to refer us to interested students. Depending on what degree of interest we see in the first few meetings, we can up- or down-regulate our efforts to reach out to the student populous. If you have any other ideas, please let us know. |
