Introduction
Supporting students to be successful, intellectually
curious learners, and healthy, competent, socially and environmentally
aware citizens is the top priority of the Division of Student Affairs.
A respectful, quality learning environment is key to student success.
Student learning and personal development are the heart of the university.
A personal development approach to working with students addresses community
and environmental issues; identifies what students need and expect from
their educational experience; and identifies barriers to student success.
In collaboration with students, faculty and staff work to create a considerate,
challenging learning environment and effective learning experiences. All
members of the university-faculty, staff, administrators, and students-must
be knowledgeable about and respectful of the diverse backgrounds, abilities,
learning styles, experiences, and other variables represented on our campus.
Through participation and interaction with the offerings of the division,
students can enhance their development as responsible learners, caring
community members, and responsible human beings who contribute to society
now and in the future. Efforts such as the Building Community Campaign,
the Healthy Community Project, and other Student Affairs initiatives also
focus on promoting student development and learning inside classroom and
beyond the university walls.
