Project Mission
Goals
Provide excellent, unified web-based student services that are tailored to individuals based upon their affiliation with CU-Boulder; in summary, a campus student portal.
Objectives
- Provide a solution that meets student requirements as articulated by students and by those responsible for delivering services to students.
- Foster campus-wide cross-departmental collaboration for service delivery.
- Research, select, and implement a technical framework upon which portal content will be delivered.
- Develop campus-wide policies regarding web-based service delivery for students, content quality control, service continuity, integration of services, and adherence to technical framework standards.
- Develop a comprehensive implementation strategy for the delivery of web-based student services.
- Develop and implement a distributed model for standardizing content creation and delivery through the student portal.
- Develop an ongoing support strategy for web-based student services.
- Develop cost models for Steering Team review.
- Ultimately, provide a comprehensive student portal, encompassing all student services and programs.
Assumptions
- The portal framework will comply with UCB IT infrastructure and security
standards. It will be built upon open, non-proprietary, component-based,
reusable standards.
- The portal framework will be flexible and scalable, accommodating
continued adaptation across the campus.
- The project will use an incremental implementation approach. The Project
Core Team and the Steering Team will work together to determine the
timing of the implementation of individual components within the portal.
- The solution will move forward from the offerings of PLUS; students
will not experience a reduction in service.
- Project Core Team members will assume responsibility for project tasks
as delineated by the Project Plan designed by the Core Team.
- Sub-teams will be created to tackle functional- and/or expertise-specific
issues (i.e., expertise will be called upon as needed).
- Funding will be arranged by the Steering Team based upon cost models
refined by the Project Core Team.
- The delivered product will adhere to FERPA-established requirements.
Milestone Targets
- December 15, 2002: Present a comprehensive project plan to the Steering Team for review.
