Deployment Status

  • Usage numbers graph was distributed.  Current count of total number of people who have logged in:  2960.  Spikes in use were noticeable for the following events:  Ememo to Residence Halls (February 4), Ememo to Architecture, Business, Education and Music schools (February 9), CUConnect icon put on www.colorado.edu/students (February 16), BuffBulletin and articles in the Colorado Daily and the Boulder Daily Camera (February 25).
  • Future marketing efforts will include an Ememo to the schools of Journalism and Engineering followed by an Ememo to Arts & Sciences.
  • Core recommends doing a demographic analysis of who is using CUConnect (i.e., by class level, school/college)
  • Marketing could also include bus placards.

Survey

  • CUConnect is running its second survey since going live.  Preliminary results (60 responses) were distributed:
    • Average rating on a scale of 1 (very high) to 5 (very low):  1.644
33 rated it very high, 19 high, 4 neutral, 1 low, 2 very low.
    • Anticipated frequency of use:
      25 daily, 19 several times/wk, 8 weekly, 2 biweekly, 5 monthly
    • The remainder of the questions asked for comments re. most valuable features, least valuable features and descriptions of problems encountered.
      •  “Everything in one place” (or a variation of that comment) was mentioned most often for the most valuable feature (highlighting the value of the tag line:  “Everything in one place”)..  Single sign-on was next most frequently mentioned.  Specific features that were praised included WebCal, easy access to WebCT, GPA calculator, Grades & Courses tab in general, News, Bookmarks.
      • The most frequent response to “least valuable” feature was “nothing” (or some variation).  Next most frequent response was the lack of single signon to WebMail.  Other concerns included: the inability to remove announcements once read; requests for additional features in WebCal; confusion with “my settings”, the requirement to log in – fully typing your login name and password – each time, slowness, plus some miscellaneous comments about extraneous features, duplication of current web offerings, etc.
  • Additional survey ideas:
    • Add the following text in hopes that we could follow up with folks having problems:  If you’re having problems with CUConnect and want someone to contact you, please include your email address in your comments.
    • Core recommends adding a survey to PLUS asking if they are using CUConnect.  (The point being to gather information about why people aren’t using CUConnect.)
    • Build tab-specific surveys.
    • Ask how the student heard about CUConnect.
    • Ask the students to prioritize potential new features.

 “To Do” list

  • Based on priorities established by Steering and Core, the work that will receive the most attention in the immediate future includes:  WebMail Single Signon (Steering highest priority), CU colors/theme skin with Old Main in header (Steering 2nd priority), PLUS migration (Core highest priority), Bursar features (on-line bill pay, static bill view) (Core 2nd priority, hard summer deadline), Events Calendar (Steering and Core 3rd highest priority).
  • Additional features/comments for the To Do list:
    • map building link (taking advantage of WebComm’s virtual map)
    • Buff OneCard:  Jeff will pursue with Housing
    • Admitted Student Portal:  preliminary funding is on the horizon.
