Gender violence affects every college campus community across the nation and sexual assault remains one of the most underreported crimes. While there is an abundance of resources to address gender violence after it has occurred, many campuses have yet to shift their intervention programs to focus on prevention. These parents often expect their own children to be responsible for their physical and emotional well-being, expect admiration and constant attention, and react with criticism and blame when their slightest need goes unmet. There are clear ways to understand the impact of these childhood experiences, to see how they may be hampering you now, and to grow beyond those limitations.
