The creation of a work environment in

commitment to a number of specific actions. It is essential that an
organization or work unit engage in the following:

- Make sure all employees have current job descriptions and the skills necessary to function in the position
- Ensure all employees are partners in setting individual performance goals
- Utilize a performance appraisal system that includes employee input and evaluation
- Ensure problems and concerns are addressed in a timely manner
- Institute two-way communication at all levels of employment
- Foster good relationships between supervisors and employees
- Ensure that institutional responses to questions and requests are culturally sensitive and appropriate
- Institute collaborative problem-solving strategies
