Organizational Development Consultation Team
Description of Services
Organizational Development (OD) consultation is a service designed to collaborate with CU campus units (e.g., academic departments, administrative units, student groups) in order to improve their functioning through various methods such as:
- Supervisor consultation and coaching
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment and group feedback
- Retreat planning and facilitation
- Mediation or facilitated conversations
- Educational presentations and workshops, including:
- Dealing with organizational Change
- Communication skills
- Emotional intelligence
- Stress management/self-care
- Team building exercises
- Workshops to enhance organizational health
A more intensive type of OD intervention we offer is organizational assessment. Organizational assessment is a short-term comprehensive evaluation often implemented when there are ongoing and/or complex difficulties within a unit, for which the causes are not easily identified. Organizational assessment involves a step-by-step procedure to: 1) Assess strengths 2) Identify problems and 3) Consider possible solutions.
This process includes:
- Information Gathering- We conduct interviews with managers, supervisors, and staff to assess the overall functioning of the unit.
- Giving Feedback – We provide a written summary of the issues identified during the interviews. These issues are used as a basis for discussing possible interventions.
- Possible Interventions – We partner with the leaders of the departments to facilitate team building, communication skills, conflict management, procedures for building a cohesive work unit, mediation, using Myers Briggs Type Indicator, or other interventions. The issues and interventions will be presented verbally in a group feedback session with the entire organizational unit.
