Our Vision

CMA honors the university’s collective commitment to freedom, equality, dignity, and respect for all its members. We envision a thriving and vibrant multicultural campus that is free of unfair obstacles.

Our Mission

CMA empowers individual success through support, affirmation, challenge, and advocacy. We accomplish this by:

  • Upholding the culture of achievement.
  • Fostering individual expression and exchange of diverse thought.
  • Bridging individuals with communities to promote collaborative relationships.
  • Creating an inclusive environment through community engagement where individuals can explore their differences and commonalities.
  • Assisting in the development of a multicultural and socially responsible campus that is prepared to lead in the 21st century.

Our Strategic Organizational Goals:

  • Promote and build inclusive and equitable communities.
  • Foster the academic achievement, personal, and professional development of our students.
  • Promote the ideals and values of inclusion, respect, and social justice.
  • Address the intersections of our multiple identities with special focus given to underrepresented populations.
  • Provide educational opportunities to enhance inter- and cross-cultural dialogues, multicultural awareness, and explore identity development in an increasingly diversified world.

At the Center for Multicultural Affairs, providing a welcoming place where students and other university members can express themselves is paramount.

Advocacy, advising, mentoring services, and programs offered are designed to help students empower themselves to explore, develop, and realize their academic, personal, and cultural strengths, as well as help them make valuable connections within the university community.

For more than three decades, the Center has been instrumental in helping CU tap diversity as a vital educational and societal resource. Opportunities for the wider university community to enhance their understanding and appreciation of diverse communities are available through CMA's diversity education program.
