About the Vice Chancellor
Ron Stump has been a higher education administrator for over 37 years and serves as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at CU-Boulder. Prior to becoming Vice Chancellor, Ron came to CU-Boulder as Dean of Students and Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs in March 1996. Ron provides leadership to a division comprised of over 30 departments committed to student learning and development, diversity, building community on campus, and preparing students to be responsible citizens in our society. Spring 2004, Ron was a recipient of the Robert L. Stearns Award for outstanding contributions to the University.
In addition to his responsibilities within Student Affairs, Ron provides support for the Athletics Department's integration into the campus with an emphasis on student-athlete welfare. He also serves as an advisor to the campus's Honor Code Council, initiated the planning for an Institute for Ethical and Civic Engagement, and co-chairs the group which is implementing a full residential campus at CU-Boulder.
Prior to coming to the University of Colorado, Ron was an Associate Dean of Students at the University of Virginia, Director of Student Activities at Michigan State University (where he earned his doctorate), and held a variety of Student Affairs related positions in the residence halls, student activities, and the dean of students' office at Northern Michigan University.
