Dating back to the clubs inception in the 1960’s, the University of Colorado Men’s Rugby Team has competed with the best college teams in the nation. This tradition continues today with the team’s participation in D1A, the highest level of colligate rugby in the United States. Recent years have seen great success with the team reaching the national quarterfinals successively in (2013 & 2014), and found itself ranked 7th in D1A at the end of the 2014 season. Adding to the team’s proud history are a National Final appearance in 1984, two Final Four appearances in 1984 & 2008, and the PAC 7’s title in 2011.
Being part of a Division 1 University with many successful sports, the team reaps the benefits through access to the schools top tier athletic facilities. The University of Colorado Men’s Rugby Team practices on beautiful natural and artificial surfaces, and works out in one of the nations best recreation centers which was just renovated to the tune of $62 million. Thanks to its close proximity to USA Rugby and several of the nations best men’s teams, the team bolsters one of the best coaching staffs in the nation. Moving forward, Colorado plans to build on its successful foundations and remain competing to be one of the best teams in the nation.
