The APS STF program is focused on expanding the number and quality of the Recitations that are used in ASTR1020. (the second semester general-education astronomy course taken by non-science majors.) The STF is attempting to better understand how ASTR1020 instructors use the Recitations as part of their instructional program; what topics and content are most appropriate for the Recitation materials; what pedagogic approaches are best suited given the materials, the students, and the teaching personnel; and to identify potential existing materials and to develop new materials as needed. To accomplish this task, the STF will also evaluate the learning objectives for faculty who teach this course (identified from their stated learning objectives, their course content, and the pre-established learning objectives of the selected textbook.)
