How much does Science Explorers cost?

The workshop cost is $225 per team (1 teacher and 5 students). Thanks to grant funding from the National Science Foundation (Boulder Creek Critical Zone Observatory), Science Discovery has scholarship funds available. Please contact Hester Nadel at 303-492-8640 for details.

How do I register?

Where are the workshops held?

Workshops are held in various locations across the state of Colorado. Please check the "Workshop Locations and Dates" link on our website for the most up-to-date workshop schedule. If you’d like to bring Science Explorers to your town, please call Hester Nadel at 303-492-8640.

What do my students and I need to bring?

Bag lunch, pencil, snacks, jacket.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive by 8:45am for check-in.

What time does the workshop end?

Workshops run from 9 am–2:45 pm. Please let us know in advance if you will need to leave early.

What should I expect?

Each Science Explorers workshop consists of an Introduction and 3 sessions built around an integrative theme. During the workshop, teams will rotate through each of the three sessions. All of the sessions are inquiry-based and built around engaging, hands-on activities.

How many teams can I bring?

Please feel free to bring as many teams as you would like. We do encourage that you bring TEACHERS with the students rather than parent chaperones. Science Explorers is intended to be a professional development opportunity, so we would like to reach as many teachers as possible.

When workshops are held on the CU Boulder Campus, is there time to go to the bookstore?

There is not time to go to the bookstore during the workshop. Please plan to arrive early or stay late if you or your students would like to go to the bookstore.

Where do I park and is there a charge for parking?

Parking varies by location. Please contact Hester Nadel at 303-492-8640 for specific parking information for the workshop that you plan to attend.

For workshops held on CU Boulder Campus, Euclid Autopark (campus map) has public parking for approximately $15 for the duration of the workshop. There are also metered spots around campus that you are welcome to use.

Are there scholarships available?

Yes, thanks to grant funding from the National Science Foundation (Boulder Creek Critical Zone Observatory), Science Discovery is able to offer scholarships to many participating schools.  Please contact Hester Nadel at 303-492-8640 or hester.nadel@colorado.edu for more information.
