Summer 2008

Dear Prospective Science Discovery Students and Parents,

We’re glad that you are considering one of our Wilderness Camps!  These trips are filled with a variety of activities and chock-full of awesome experiential education!

We urge you to discuss the items below, and determine if this trip is a good match for your child.  These are especially important if you are interested in the Yellowstone or Pacific Northwest trip.

LENGTH OF TRIP - Consider the amount of time you have spent away from your family.  Please consider longer trips only if you have spent at least a full week or more away from your family without cell phone contact.

COMMUNITY – For everyone’s enjoyment students need to be flexible and understand the importance of working together.  Time spent driving in the van, on cook crew, or sharing tents is not only fun, it also allows us to learn a lot about ourselves and how we can benefit from mutual support.

FIELD EXPERTS - We spend time with field experts.  Our expectation is that students will participate respectfully.

ON-THE-GO FUN! - These trips are a lot of fun!  We’re on the go and up early.  Meals are sometimes at odd times or take place while in the van due to wildlife observations or early starting times.

On behalf of the Science Discovery Wilderness Camp staff, we appreciate your attention to this matter.  Together, let’s make this the best ever learning adventure.  If you have any questions, I would be happy to talk with you.

Sincerely,

Deb Kulcsar, Wilderness Camp Director
