Yellowstone Wolf Trek

Grizzlies seen through scopeThe grandeur and adventure of Yellowstone and Teton National Parks will impact you for a lifetime. Here, over 200 reintroduced wolves now successfully reside, bringing a more balanced ecosystem, yet is not without controversy. On this trip you'll witness a thriving grizzly population, bison herds, moose plus the larger-than-life rugged landscape of the Teton Mountains. The vast wilderness, the wildlife, the water, and the western feeling of it all capture the true essence of how North America once looked. We begin under the Teton Mountain range exploring its geology while paddling lake kayaks. The Lamar Valley awaits us, and under the expert guidance of the Yellowstone Association Institute, students will gain in-depth knowledge of Yellowstone, from its military history to the varying wolf reintroduction views. Opportunities to view wildlife abound. Up at dawn with our spotting scopes, the anticipation of seeing a wolf or a grizzly in the wild is all you'll need to stay warm! We're sure to spot these grand predators, and perhaps see a bison or elk kill, where wolves and bear trade skirmishes over territory. We'll explore an abandoned wolf den, visit the holding pens where wolves were first reintroduced over 10 years ago, and hear stories about the latest interactions unfolding within the wolf packs. In Mammoth Hot Springs we'll be outfitted for a guided horseback ride, and travel into wolf country once again. We'll visit Yellowstone Falls, numerous geothermal features including Old Faithful, and travel through what was once some of the most fire-ravaged sections of Yellowstone. Rafting on the Yellowstone River completes the journey. Now in its third very successful year, this trip fills FAST!
