Pacific Northwest

We are thrilled to offer this new trip to the Olympic Peninsula and Mount Rainier National Park. Join the camp director and incredible teaching staff as we journey to the Pacific Northwest. Marine biology, oceanography, fresh and saltwater ecology, rainforest ecology, forestry, glaciology and climate change will comprise the main content of this trip. Time will be devoted to learning about and looking for whales, seals, bald eagles, salmon, starfish, puffins and other marine wildlife. We will spend time in the field with experts from the Port Townsend Science Center and an afternoon on an educational sea kayak excursion, led by Adventures Through Kayaking. While in Olympic National Park we'll learn about rainforest ecology and geology of the Olympic Mountains as we canoe in an enormous Montreal canoe on Crescent Lake, guided by the Olympic Park Institute. We'll meet the Makah Indians on our tour to Cape Flattery. Their museum tells the incredible story of a strong and proud culture. A backpack to the ocean's edge near the most northwest tip of the peninsula will leave you breathless as we explore the shore at low tide looking for marine life and pictographs left by the region's first Americans. The journey ends camping and exploring Mount Rainier National Park, with a grand finale hike to view Nisqually Glacier. Guaranteed to be a comprehensive adventure!
