After-School Classes | Summer Classes
in
Boulder County
Over 200 classes annually emphasize the excitement of science, math,
and technology through hands-on discovery and experiential learning.
These quality programs offer: small class size; enthusiastic,
knowledgeable, and experienced teachers; use of university and community
resources; and a variety of field experiences. Children from many
backgrounds and of various ages participate in these enriching experiences.

Wilderness Camps
Five to 14 day, overnight wilderness camps guide students in adventure
activities and the exploration of Colorados ecosystems and natural
history during exciting wilderness experiences. The camps foster awareness
and sensitivity to the earth and its rich resources in a fun and relaxed
atmosphere. Personal and group challenges enhance self-confidence
and create connections among students. Wilderness living skills and
time for reflection enhance a sense of place and purpose within the
natural world.

Science From CU: Statewide Classroom
Programs and Assemblies
These programs, designed to facilitate interactive study through audience
participation and experiments, feature museum collections, live organisms,
and science equipment. Program content and activities supplement existing
curriculum and support Colorado Content Standards. The opportunity
to see and touch the "real thing" enlivens classroom learning,
engaging students, and developing their understanding first hand.

Science Explorers: Statewide
Professional Development
This professional development program for teachers offers day-long,
activity-based workshops for teams consisting of a teacher and five
students. Students work side-by-side with their teacher, providing
opportunities for leadership development and professional growth.
Program content and activities support Colorado Content Standards.
Workshop attendees receive materials and curriculum to take back to
their schools.

The Outdoor Classroom:
An Environmental Education Program
Students and their teachers from selected schools in the Denver/Boulder
area are provided a variety of outdoor topics and activities including
cooperative adventures, Colorado ecosystems, a field trip to the foothills,
and an overnight stay in the mountains. The program gives teachers
and their classes the opportunity to learn about each other and the
environment through sessions spread out over an entire school year.
