CU Boulder Scholarship Application

The 2016-2017 CU Boulder Scholarship Application is closed.
The application will open October 1, 2016 for the 2017-2018 school year.

The CU Boulder Scholarship application is available every year from October 1 to February 15 through MyCUBoulder for prospective freshmen & transfer students and MyCUInfo for continuing undergraduate & graduate students.

The general application requires information about extracurricular activities, community service, work and an essay. Additional recommended scholarship opportunities may display that require writing a special essay, submitting reference letters, or documenting eligibility. Any scholarship that has financial need as criteria for eligibility also requires completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the scholarship deadline. Eligibility and application requirements for each scholarship vary and are available in the portal or the CU Boulder Scholarship Search Tool.

To complete the application, follow these tips:

  • Complete the general application by February 15, 2017 11:59 p.m. MT
    • Any updates made to the general scholarship application after February 17 will not be considered for the 2017-18 scholarship application
  • Complete the FAFSA by February 15
  • Submit all supporting documents by February 15
  • Requests for reference letters are made through the scholarship application
    • Reference letters submitted after the deadline may be considered for review
  • Follow best practices for winning a scholarship

Scholarship Selection & Notification

A scholarship committee evaluates submitted applications and selects recipients. Scholarships are highly competitive and award criteria may include academic merit, financial need, extracurricular activities, leadership, and/or other requirements.

Students selected to receive a scholarship will be notified in early April. Those not selected can expect email notification by mid-April (sent to address provided on the Admission application for prospective students). Notification will vary for recipients of recommended and external scholarships.
