Music

What could be more therapeutic than the transcendency of music? It releases us from time’s relentless grip, and can place us before a seemingly infinite sea, while in the same moment dissolving all sense of abandonment and hopelessness. It is the comforting voice of a loving mother after an incident of which no other remedy fathomable could heal. Music is an all-encompassing representation of the human spirit. It’s our childish imitation of the melodic world around us. Its rhythm: a sub-conscious reminder that our hearts are beating. It has always been a source of social identity, a thread weaving the fabric of culture, and a means for release. Like the world in which we live, its function reveals mathematical perfection, and like the tranquil repetition of ocean waves, the waves constituting sound enter our consciousness, shine light into our dark wells, and can lead the way to recovery when it is most needed.
