Home of the Oppressed

For the enslaved,
memories of home have been tortured and lynched.
These memories live no more.
For the colonized,
home was stolen, raped and burned.
What once was, is certainly not home anymore.
For the neo-colonial,
home has never been known.
It is a wholly unfamiliar concept.
For the resisters,
home is the space defined against….
Not the space where we currently stand,
but the space that we created in opposition to being pushed out.
Many of us know nothing of a happy home. It is a privilege we do not share.
Our home is in the struggle…
….to reclaim a place that we can call our own.
