No one looks at long hair –
I mean, really long hair –
and says, "Oh, how useful!
What a smart, sensible do!"
Instead they ask, as if
merely curious, "Um – like –
how long does it take to comb
it every morning?" and "Um –
like – doesn't that hurt?"
If the magazines gave me
a makeover, the first thing
they'd do is cut it all off.
But I know what they don't:
the strength of long hair –
I mean, really long hair.
As a rope, as a ladder,
an escape from a tower,
long hair has its power.
