Eligibility

Am I Eligible to Apply to be a McNair Scholar?

You are eligible to apply to the McNair program according to the following:

• Majoring in science, technology, engineering, or math

• Interested in pursuing a Ph.D. after receiving your bachelor's degree with a specific interest in conducting research and/or the professorate

• Currently a CU-Boulder undergraduate (junior or senior status) or completed 60 credits by the beginning of summer

• A minimum GPA of 3.0 or above. The minimum GPA can be waived under special circumstances. Please contact Valerie Gallegos at 303-492-4379.

• A U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Qualifying students must be from ONE of the following bulleted demographic groups:

• First generation (neither parent has completed a bachelor's degree) AND low income

• African American

• Alaskan Natives

• American Indian

• Native American Pacific Islander

• Native Hawaiians

• Hispanic
