Workplace procedures remain unchanged for all campus work. We have stepped up cleaning and disinfection of kitchens, bathrooms and common areas in CU housing, as well as in the University Memorial Center and Recreation Center.
We are observing normal schedules regarding classes, regular meals, maintenance and basic campus work. As information develops, the chancellor has directed department chairs, in consultation with their deans, to decide if “discretionary” events should be canceled.

- It is vitally important that staff, faculty, students and visitors follow the personal health protocols prescribed and available on this website.
- If you have influenza like illness (ILI – fever generally over 100.4˚F with either cough or sore throat), please contact your health care provider. The Colorado Department of Health advises those who experience ILI to stay home for 24 hours after fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing medicines.
- Please also contact your supervisor about your health status. Employees with ILI should stay home and use sick leave for the absence, following proper procedures to request leave from their supervisors. If an employee has used up all of his or her sick leave, it is appropriate to use annual leave. Anyone who has exhausted their paid leave should request leave without pay. - The CDC recommends that employees not be required to confirm their illness or recovery from the flu with medical documentation because doctors’ offices may be unable to provide such documentation in a timely fashion. Therefore, this flu season, employees are not required to submit a medical certification if they are out for more than three consecutive workdays because they or their family members have the flu. Departments are not required to designate Family Medical Leave (FML) for employees who have ILI or are caring for family members who have ILI.

H1N1 and Seasonal Flu Vaccine Clinics
Nationally, seasonal flu shot production and shipping to the private sector was delayed in order to get the H1N1 vaccine out. Because of this, Wardenburg Health Center has only received a portion of its seasonal flu vaccine order. The remainder of the order is expected in November.
In the interim, Wardenburg Health Center is concentrating on getting the vaccine it currently has to the student population, specifically to high-risk students.
All members of the campus community are reminded that the seasonal flu vaccine is already available at many pharmacies, grocery stores and doctors' offices, and may be covered by personal insurance. Individuals, especially those in high-risk categories, are encouraged to get the seasonal flu shot early.
The first batches of H1N1 vaccine are being distributed to the first tier of high-risk individuals as defined by state and federal officials. Wardenburg Health Center has not yet received the vaccine because college campuses are designated as second tier. CU's order of the H1N1 vaccine is expected in November. This vaccine will be made available to the campus community including students, faculty, staff, and their families, free of charge.
