SOSR (Student Organization for the Study of Religion) is a student organization at the University of Colorado created to provide a forum for graduate and undergraduate students to participate in the department of religious studies. SOSR has two main functions: to provide a voice for the student community and to carry out numerous activities elected by the students. We have a number of ongoing projects including:

  • NEXT: The Graduate Student Journal for the Academic Study of Religion.
  • Organizing departmental lectures. SOSR has aided in sponsoring lectures by notable scholars in our department
  • Discussions with student-faculty liaisons. SOSR advocates for student voices to be heard by the faculty in important matters such as hiring new faculty and determining the structure of the curriculum
  • SOSR Movie Night. Ongoing student/faculty activity of viewing and discussing popular films with a religious dimension
